  • INTI College Sabah Hospitality Students Lead “Warm Bowl, Warm Heart” Charity Initiative

INTI College Sabah Hospitality Students Lead “Warm Bowl, Warm Heart” Charity Initiative

Final-year students from the Diploma in Hotel Management programme at INTI College Sabah recently transformed a classroom assignment into a meaningful act of service through a charity initiative titled “Warm Bowl, Warm Heart.” What began as a requirement for their Event Management subject soon became a powerful experience of empathy, courage, and community engagement. An alumnus also supported the initiative, encouraging the students and reminding them that giving back to the community is a lifelong responsibility. With determination and genuine care for the community, the students reached out to family members, friends, and acquaintances for support. Stepping beyond their comfort zones, they also approached fellow students and lecturers from Asian Tourism International College (ATI) to share their cause. Their efforts were met with overwhelming generosity. The initiative raised RM1,410 in cash donations and approximately RM400 worth of in-kind contributions, including essential food items such as rice, cooking oil, flour, spices, and seasonings. On 11 February 2026, just days before the festive seasons of Chinese New Year and Ramadan, the students delivered the donations to Dapur Kita-Kita in Kota Kinabalu. The soup kitchen supports urban workers and underserved communities by providing daily meals to those in need. Rather than simply handing over the donations, the students also volunteered their time. They helped prepare food, served meals, and interacted with the beneficiaries, gaining firsthand insight into the importance of compassion and community service. The experience left a lasting impression on the students. Charity was no longer just a concept learned in the classroom; it became a meaningful and personal experience. Through this initiative, they discovered that hospitality extends beyond hotels and events; it is about showing kindness, respecting dignity, and serving others with a sincere heart. The “Warm Bowl, Warm Heart” initiative not only provided support for those in need but also helped shape the students into more compassionate and socially responsible future professionals. Initiatives like this reflect INTI College Sabah’s commitment to experiential learning, where students are encouraged to apply their knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on the community.
